Project Spotlight Hut 8’s $17 Billion Beacon Point Data Center Takes Shape In South Texas Hut 8’s Beacon Point development spans approximately 525 acres in the Robstown/Calallen area of Nueces County. The campus is under construction, with a planned 1GW utility-capacity framework and phased delivery targets. That scale makes Beacon Point a significant project to follow across building delivery and power infrastructure. The campus capacity is not a claim that 1GW of IT equipment is operating today. Our Project Insight brings together the documented construction scope, delivery team, financing and timeline. |
Project Spotlight $1 Billion Toyota Stadium Redevelopment in Frisco Moves Forward Frisco’s October 20 agreement supports a planned 250-room hotel, approximately 15,000 SF of meeting space, around 30,000 SF of retail and restaurants, and shared parking. It adds another development milestone around the Toyota Stadium campus. The agreement returns 50% of qualifying hotel-occupancy-tax receipts over ten years, capped at $5 million. That is a performance-based incentive, not the hotel’s construction budget. A confirmed construction start and delivery appointments remain details to follow. |
Project Spotlight Carrier Plans $600 Million Fort Worth Manufacturing Investment Carrier’s October 22 announcement brings a major cooling-equipment investment to AllianceTexas. The company plans to invest more than $600 million over three years in a manufacturing and engineering center spanning more than 1 million square feet. The facility will expand commercial chiller production for customers including data centers, hospitals, schools and industrial operations. Carrier expects operations to begin in 2027 and plans 1,500 manufacturing, engineering and other jobs. |

Project Deep Dive Houston’s $2.6 Billion Airport Marks Major Milestone The North Concourse is now open at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, marking a major milestone in Houston’s $2.6 billion Terminal B transformation. Manhattan Construction was the lead general contractor for the three-level concourse, which adds 765,000 square feet and 22 mainline gates. The announced facilities include a 54,000-SF United Club with seating for approximately 800 people and about 105,000 SF of dining and retail space. Bringing these areas into service connects the building to boarding, baggage, passenger circulation and airport operations. Work continues across the wider terminal program. Clark Construction is leading the central terminal construction, targeted for completion in early 2028. Our Project Insight brings together the delivery teams, construction history and remaining works. |
Projects We’re WatchingKinder Morgan: Permian Link Anchors Major Pipeline InvestmentKinder Morgan has approved approximately $4.7 billion as its investment share across two joint ventures. Around $1.6 billion relates to Permian Link: a planned 434-mile, 2.8 Bcf/day pipeline originating near Pecos County, with service targeted for Q3 2030. The remaining investment concerns the separate Southeast Connector project. Latitude Margaritaville: 3,500 Homes Planned In Texas CityMinto’s October 20 land closing advances the approximately 1,318-acre Latitude Margaritaville Galveston Bay community. Sitework was expected to begin that week, with the sales center and model park targeted for Q1 2028. That launch date is separate from completion of the full residential community. NextEra Energy: Two Texas Sites In A 16.5GW Power ProgramDefinitive agreements cover three federal power hubs—two in Texas and one in Pennsylvania. The 16.5GW capacity and $5.7 billion initial funding apply to the combined program; individual Texas allocations and locations have not been disclosed. Site definitions and construction schedules are the next details to track. |
Project Spotlight Tesla’s Proposed $10.1 Billion Factory Clears Incentive Hurdle Fort Bend County commissioners approved incentive agreements for Project Crystal Sun on October 22 in a reported 4–0 vote. The proposal concerns a solar-cell and related-products manufacturing complex, with approximately $10.1 billion in investment, including production equipment. The county workshop identified Austin Point as the potential setting, with approximately 1,600 acres contemplated for Tesla. It projected around 9,700 permanent jobs and an early-2029 operating target if the development proceeds. This advances the county’s offer; Tesla has not announced a final site selection or confirmed construction. A company commitment, defined building scope and delivery appointments are the next milestones that would turn the incentive story into a construction program. |
Company Results Comfort Systems USA Delivers A Standout Third QuarterHouston-based Comfort Systems USA reported $3.77 billion in third-quarter revenue, up from $2.45 billion a year earlier. Net income reached $489 million, while operating cash flow topped $1 billion. The forward workload is just as striking: backlog reached $17.81 billion at September 30, compared with $14.06 billion at June 30. The results highlight the scale of demand for mechanical and electrical delivery—but these are company-wide figures, not Texas-only project awards. |
Industry Rankings ENR 2026 Top 600 Specialty Contractors: Texas Leads From The Front The specialists building America’s next wave of infrastructure are operating at extraordinary scale. ENR reports $275.1 billion in combined list revenue, up 14.7%, as AI infrastructure fuels demand for skilled trade capacity. Houston’s Quanta Services ranks No. 1, followed by EMCOR and APi Group. Comfort Systems USA rises to No. 4, with Dallas-based Primoris at No. 5—placing three Texas-headquartered firms in the top five. The 2026 list is based on 2025 specialty-contracting revenue. It offers a useful view of company scale alongside this quarter’s earnings and the project-level delivery milestones we follow each week. |
Project Recognition S&B’s Texas Megaproject Wins Construction Excellence Award S&B’s work on Energy Transfer’s Flexport Chiller Project in Nederland has received construction excellence recognition. The October 20 announcement highlights a delivery effort involving 4.5 million work hours, a peak workforce of more than 1,400 and six mechanical completions within 12 months. The team also reported no lost-time incidents across those work hours. This celebrates the execution of a major industrial project; the recognition is separate from a new construction contract award. |
